Cheers to You Cheers to Me

I want to thank everyone for your sweet comments in my last two posts...I am feeling a little better so thanks! Now I'm calling on all of you for your help...this will be fun I swear! I don't know about you, but one of my favorite parts of vacation is drinking in the afternoon (or morning haha) without feeling totally guilty. On saturday I'm going on vacation to Michigan to see my entire extended family for a week. Now don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE my family to death but they can be a little, um, eccentric, or in other words they put the fun in dysfunctional!

My parents and I (I'm an only child if you haven't figured that out by now!) are staying in a cottage with my very cool aunt, and over the years we've all figured out that the best way to enjoy our family is through the help of some fun drinks! I have my fair share of recipes but I want to ask all of you if you have any fun drink recipes you'd like to share...any and all would be appreciated! Thanks so much in advance and I hope I'm not the only one with interesting families out there!
xoxo

  1. Pimm's No 1 mixed with lemonade, vodka, fresh strawberries, mint and cucumbers. A Pimm's Cup- completely delish and oh so summery!

Where are you headed in MI? We'll be up there this weekend as well as 8/1-8/9. I can't wait! If you are anywhere near Traverse City, L Mawby makes some fantastic sparkling wines. Fizz was our specialty champagne at our wedding, we also like Sex and Sandpiper. The M Lawrence (higher end) sparkling wines from the same winery are all great! Have a wonderful time!

  4. We add a little twist to our daiquiris - we put a whole strawberry down in them. The strawberry adds flavor and it also freezes and is yummy to eat after the drink is all gone!

  5. This is my go to drink (a Cosmo):

2 parts citrus vodka (Skyy Citrus is the best)
    1 part Cointreau
2 Parts Cranberry juice (100% juice, not the juice cocktail stuff)
    Splash of simple syrup
    splash of fresh lime juice
Shake with ice and strain into glasses

  8. Here is one to knock your socks off...It is a brazilian drink made with lots of fresh lime and cachaca (pronounced Ka-sha-sa). Our better liquor stores sell it. (we bring it back when we go there)

    Caiphirinha- http://www.chow.com/recipes/10046

Another south of the border (cuban) is a mojito...we like it with a combo of coconut and mango rum.

    Enjoy your trip! Hic.
