Have No Fear...I'm Still Here!

Hi All! I promise that I'm still here and planning on writing an actual post very very soon. I got back from vacation a couple weeks ago, and was in a bit of a late summer funk all last week. Then today, because I've been at work for 2 months (really can't believe that it's been that long) I had my first performance review today. It went really well but I obviously have a TON I have to work on and I really need to kick it up and get into gear before my next review in a month. So that's just a quick glimpse of what's been going on lately, but I really do promise I'll do a real post soon...hopefully this week. So, sorry for the lack of posting lately and...Stay Tuned!

Read this book...NOW!

Ok so seriously you all need to stop reading this post and run to your nearest Boarders/Barnes and Nobles/Library/ whatever and read this book:

Have any of you heard of this book? The movie (with Zac Efron who looks AMAZING) Charlie St. Cloud is based on it, and it's seriously one of the best books I've ever read. It's about a guy who looses his brother in a tragic car crash, and suddenly develops this "gift" to not only see him but others who have not yet moved on to Heaven. He also meets a girl, Tess, and well...there's a GIANT twist that I'm not going to spoil but I totally didn't see it coming. Based on the trailer for the movie I don't know how much of that twist they're going to address in the movie, but it looks good either way. This book is a really short read and I know you all will LOVE it!

This is the trailer for the movie (which I can't wait to see!)

Also on a totally random note, is anyone else out there excited for Weeds to start? I saw this preview yesterday and can't WAIT!

I love that all of the Botwins are on the road and I think it's going to be really funny to see where they end up. Have a good Wednesday night everyone!

My New Haircut

Obviously it's a pretty slow day in my life if I'm posting about my hair haha, but a couple of you asked to see a picture of it so here it is:

Totally not a great picture of me but oh well. In other news...I'm going to CHICAGO tomorrow!! AHHH I am so so excited. A couple of my friends and I are having a mini reunion (even though we've only been graduated for two months ha) and on Saturday we're seeing Tom Petty! It's going to be an amazing weekend and I can't wait. So I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend yourself and I'll be back on Monday.

Oh and b/c the title of this post totally reminded me of this, here's "my new haircut." Do you all remember this? I haven't seen it for awhile but it still cracks me up haha.

What I'm Loving Right Now

I was going to post this last night but it rained so our cable and internet went out (which makes perfect sense right?) Anyway there's a bunch of things that I'm kind of obsessed with right now and since I'm too lazy to upload pictures I thought I'd share them with you! So without further ado here we go:

First off is True Blood. Um how great is this season so far? I'm absolutely OBSESSED with Eric this season, and Bill's plot line is actually interesting, although I don't believe for a second that he's not in love with Sookie. My only complaint is that Eric and Sookie ACTUALLY need to get together, and if they have another freaking dream sequence about it I'm going to scream. My other complaint is that I think Tara is now one of the most annoying/useless characters on the show and I wish they would do more with her character...although after seeing the previews for next week that might happen.

Chicago! I'm going there this weekend to meet up with friends and see Tom Petty and I am SO SO excited. Friday seriously can't come soon enough!

So obviously everyone loves Friends including me, but I haven't actually watched the show in forever until I put it on last night while I was falling asleep. Man I forgot how funny this show is! I'm watching season 3 right now and it's the perfect thing to watch at night.

Rice pudding, more specifically rice pudding from Trader Joes. Wow this stuff is SO yummy, and althought it's not the best, at 130cal per serving it's not the worst thing in the world for you. In a broder sense I'm also in love with Trader Joes in general and (along with the West Side Market) am probably going to make it my go to grocery store.

So who cares that this is almost half a months rent. This is the most AMAZING pbag I've ever seen and I want to make it mine NOW. Hmmmm maybe it'll go on sale eventually? One can hope haha.

So those are just a couple things that I'm obsessed with right now...what are you all loving?

Rah Rah Rah

I was going to take the chance tonight to recap on seriously the best weekend EVER but I'm postponing that post because I just got sucked into one of my favorite things ever: Cheerleader Nation.

Does anyone else remember this show? It aired the summer before I started college and documented the Dunbar varsity cheerleaders as they tried to win their third national championship in a row (I don't remember if they ended up winning it or not.) I was absolutely ADDICTED to this show and completely freaked when I found that it was on tonight. So now instead of going to bed so I don't end up falling asleep at work (like I almost did today) I'm absolutely glued to the tv.

Thinking about my addiction to this show reminds me of other movies/tv shows I love about cheerleaders, such as:

and

Anyone else have kinda a weird addiction to these type of shows or is it just me?

Dear DirectTv

Dear DirectTV

I know we had a rocky start but I really am trying to like you. I like that I can see the tv guide and get HBO in my room which I couldn't before with time warner. I like that the dvr space is huge and that I can control the dvr with my phone. But the fact that after ONE storm my internet/some channels go out for FOUR DAYS is something that I really can't handle. Being in an area that gets a lot of storms both in the summer and the winter I can already tell that we're going to have a long and bumpy relationship. Also you're customer service people could use a bit of work...the fact that I have to leave a message with someone to have a totally different person call me back from an unknown number just so they can say that someone might or might not be out in the next 3 days or so kinda annoys me. It also sketches me out. So please DirectTv get your act together before I'm forced to move out of the apartment that I love just so that I can get decent internet and cable (I'm only half kidding about this.)

What I've Been Up To

Because I've been mia from the blog world for such a long time I probably owe you all an explanation of what I've been up to. Since my last real post (not inluding Monday's) I've moved to Cleveland, moved in with my roommate, and started my new job. The move went pretty well, except for one small issue (which contributed to my absence)... our apartment didn't have internet for TWO weeks. Let's just say that the service people at Direct TV and I went through a very LONG rough patch but it all worked out eventually. I never realized how much I depended on the internet until I didn't have it for a while...hmmmm maybe that's something that I should work on!

I absolutely LOVE my new apartment...it's pretty big (for a first aparment at least) and I have my own bedroom and bathroom which is great. The location is fantastic and my office recently moved downtown so I can walk to work now. I'm also loving living with my new roomie S even though she and I are the total and complete opposites. Like literally everything I like, she usually doesn't and vice versa. But weirdly enough we get along REALLY well and I absolutely love living with her. She's a ton of fun to go out with and it's great having an automatic friend in a city where neither one of us know that many people.

And now last but not least...I love my job! I'm doing a bunch of different things right now but I'm learning a ton, and I'm starting to understand everything that's being taught to me which is even better haha. The people in my office are fantastic but in the beginning I was definitely having flashbacks to freshman year of college...I hate being the new kid. I'm starting to get to know more people in the office though, and everyone has been amazing in helping my transition go relatively smoothly. So there you go...that's been my life for the past couple weeks. Now that everything's slowing back down look for more posts, and more comments from me. Have a great Thursday night!

Happy Summer!

I can't believe that (once again) I haven't blogged in forever and now it's the first official day of summer. So many crazy and exciting have been happening lately that I've completely lost track of everything and have abandoned both my blog and my reader. I PROMISE that things are starting to return back to normal and I'll let you all know what's been going on in my life in the next post. So in honor of the first day of summer (and National Wear Lilly Day which I had NO idea about) here are some things that I'm looking forward to this summer:
- spending time with friends on the 4th of July
- seeing my family at the end of July
- spending more time by the lake
- relaxing on our deck on my building's roof
-enjoying this hot but gorgeous weather
How has your summer been going so far, and what are you most looking forward to?

Happy (almost) Summer!

I can't believe that it's Memorial Day weekend already! Considering that it's my last weekend in Boston (seriously terrifying) my plans involve a LOT of packing, a little shopping, and enjoying the gorgeous weather that we're supposed to have these next couple days. Tonight I'm going to see Sex and the City 2 with my best friend C which I'm SO excited for! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend...anyone have any fun plans?

The craziness has finally ended

Well after an exciting, overwhelming, sad, and basically just amazing two weeks, the craziness that is the end of senior year has finally ended. Finals week came and went (and I got my final grades back on Thursday which means that I have passed everything and officially graduated) and graduation weekend was an absolute blast. On the Friday of graduation weekend my housemates and I hosted a party for our friends and family, and then Saturday was the big commencement for everyone and the small ceremony for the Arts and Sciences college. The actual ceremonies were such a blur but one thing I do remember is that it was COLD! The big ceremony outside was so painful to sit through that the President ended it early which was welcomed! Sunday was filled with packing up the house and then my dad, friends, and I went out for one last dinner.

Driving away from the place where I spent the best four years of my life was really one of the hardest things ever, but as much as I miss everything about college, I really am excited to move and start my new job. On Monday my dad and I started the drive back to Boston, but stopped in Cleveland to find my new apartment. After a LOT of searching I found it and I can't wait to post pictures of it when I move in. My dad and I got back last Tuesday and then on Thursday, a couple friends and I went to Florida this past weekend for one last getaway. This weekend was SO much fun and I can't wait to post pictures as soon as I upload them! I got home yesterday, so today I'm basically just relaxing and catching up on tv that I missed while I was away. I also really need to actually unpack from school, so that I can start repacking to move again. So once again these next couple weeks are going to be crazy again but I think that I can finally start keeping up with blogging, and I'm excited to get back to reading all of yours. I think that's going to be it for today but I also wanted to say a huge CONGRATS to all of the other (college, high school, grad school etc) graduates out there!

Lots and Lots of News!

Hi all I can't believe that it's been SOOO long since I've posted...I swear that I'm going to be much much better this summer! So much has happened since the last time that I "talked" to you all that I don't really know where to begin but since it's late (and I have a TON of work to do) I'm going to share the two GIANT announcements I have. Before I do can I just say that I can't believe that tomorrow marks my last full week of classes as an undergrad. I have nothing to say about that but it's just....weird.

Ok so here's BIG news #1:

So I don't know if you all remember but back in December I had interviewed for a job that I was pretty excited for. It was similar to what my internship was this past summer (digital marketing) and the company seemed really awesome as well. Well a couple months went by and I hadn't heard anything so I kinda gave up on it...until this Monday. I got a call when I was writing a paper for my poli sci class TOTALLY last minute and I found out

I GOT THE JOB!!!!

Which is absolutely CRAZY. I really can't believe that I have a "big person" job and that I'm going to be starting a month after I graduate. Which is both exciting and terrifing at the same time. AND which also leads me to BIG news #2:

I'M MOVING TO CLEVELAND!!

Which is also absolutely exciting and terrifing. I'm so excited because I'm not going to be that far away from my besties as well as many other close friends who are also staying in Ohio (at least for right now.) I'm absolutely TERRIFIED because I know people from the Cleveland area but not directly in the city and I think I'm going to have to live by myself which kinda scares the crap out of me. So not only are these next few weeks going to be filled with moving out of school but also moving to a brand new city. I basically have NO idea what I'm doing right now so if anyone has any advice on finding an apartment, living on your own, basically ANY advice about becoming a "real" person than let me know!

Soooo in the upcoming weeks I still might be a little sketchy on my posting/commenting but please hang in there because I'll be back to my regular posting when I'm completely settled. Hope you all are doing well!

I'm Still Here!

Hi all I can't believe that it's been about two weeks since I've last posted! I did not realize how CRAZY everything would be since I came back from spring break, the work has been non stop ever since. As stupid as this seems it has finally hit me that I'm graduating in a little over a month and that fact is absolutely TERRIFYING! Is anyone else who's graduating feels this way as well? So because my week is crazy yet again I'm going to have to end it here tonight. I have so much that I want to share with you all so hopefully I'll be able to get back to regular posting this week!

New Years Resolutions: An Update

Even though I set a bunch of New Years Resolutions for myself this year, I realized this morning when I was at the rec, that I never did a blog post about them. So I thought for today (well I guess it's really tonight) that I would tell you a couple of my resolutions and give an update on how I'm doing with them.

  1. Eat Healthier and Lose Weight: This one I'm doing really well with! Since about mid January I've already lost about 8 pounds, and I can't wait to loose even more when I come back from spring break. I'm pretty good about eating healthy during the week, but on the weekends I totally let myself eat whatever I want...I think that I would go crazy if I didn't!
  2. Read More Books: This is another resolution that I'm doing well with. I find that the only time that I have to read during the day is when I work out, which works out really well. So far I've read three books since January, and am almost done with a fourth which is a total record for me! I've loved all of the books that I've read but I think that my favorites have been Shutter Island (which is FANTASTIC...seriously go buy this book NOW) and Paula Deen's Memoir It Ain't All About the Cookin.
  3. Blog More Often: Eh this is one that I've kinda struggled with. I always try to write a post a day or at least for most of the week, but more often than not I end up not making the time for it. I know many of you blog every day, and that's my goal for the coming months.
  4. Learn How to Cook: Ha this has been a complete FAIL. What I have learned to master is the art of making a delicious meal in the microwave, or heating up a frozen pizza in the oven. I think that the total extent of my cooking has making risotto from a box (but it was REALLY good!) This is another one that I need to work on.
  5. Watch Less TV: This has also been kind of a fail. Right before Christmas break, I started watching episodes of The West Wing when I was getting ready in the morning, and now that they're on the first season, I've been totally hooked to it, and find myself watching more TV and not less. I would say that I should work on this one, but I like TV wayyy too much, so I think that I'm going to give this one up.
How are you all doing with your resolutions? Oh, and before I end this, here's your second clue for the day:

Clue 2: It's on the Atlantic Coast.

A couple of you were really close yesterday...anyone think that they know it today?

Olympic Fever

Has anyone else out there gotten swept up in Olympic Fever? I literally have been watching it every possible moment and they have been amazing so far! I think my favorites to watch have been all of the skiing events and the figure skating. I was absolutely amazed when Lindsey Vonn won the gold, and think that it is absolutely amazing that she was able to win despite her injury. I'm watching Ice Dancing right now, and even though some of it is a little weird, I'm a total sucker for all of the dramatic performances. I think my favorites so far have been the Americans who skated to Phantom of the Opera, and the couple who skated to the theme from Requiem for a Dream...both performances were fantastic! I also cannot WAIT for the womens figure skating tomorrow night it should be amazing. GO TEAM USA! What have been your favorite things to watch so far?

On a completely unrelated side note, I saw this How I Met Your Mother episode one time, and the main point of the episode was that nothing ever good happens after 2am. Now when I saw the episode I totally laughed it off and didn't really think anything of it but after a totally WEIRD experience that happened to my housemates and I (which is a long story but involved a massive fight breaking out at our house) I have to go back and think that this is kind of true. What do you all think about this?

So that's about it for tonight...back to watching more Ice Dancing!

ETA: Ok the Canadian couple who just took the lead....wtf does anyone else think that they weren't as good as the American team (of Davis and White) or am I just biased and totally missing something?

Growing Up

Today I went to my school's spring career fair, and while I was waiting in line to talk to (potential) future employers I was thinking about how I've been feeling more and more like a "grown up" lately. Maybe it's the fact that I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that I'm graduating in a few months, or the fact that I received a "save the date" card for my grand big's wedding in October, and it's weird to think about attending a wedding "on my own" for the first time without my parents. And for some reason (I really don't know why) when I was trying to figure out a time to meet up with my great-grand big, who was in town today, for drinks tonight or coffee tomorrow, I felt like a grown up again. I don't know why I've been feeling like this lately, and I'm still not sure if I like this or not, but it's definitely weird to realize that I'm going to be out in the "real world" in a couple months and I still have NO idea what I'm going to do with my life. Sorry that this has been kind of a rambling post...I guess the career fair just brings it out in me!

Saturday Randoms

Happy Saturday everyone! It's finally sunny here and we actually haven't had snow for a couple days but that's going to change after this weekend and we're supposed to get snow again next week. I'm leaving for a horse show this afternoon, which I probably should start packing for haha but I have a couple random things to post about that I haven't this week so here they are!

The Olympics are finally here! Although I love them both and am usually OBSESSED with watching the gymnastics in the summer I think I like the winter ones a little bit more for the figure skating and skiing/snowboarding. I also can not believe that one of the Georgian lugers died yesterday. They showed the footage before the opening ceremonies started and it was so scary to watch. I have to admit I don't know if I would be able to compete after hearing about that, and I feel so sorry for both his family and his teammates.

What did you all think of the opening ceremonies? I thought that some parts were really cool, and some parts were pretty weird. I absolutely LOVED Team USA uniforms and totally want to snag one of those hats!

On a completely unrelated note, in January I won Blackeyed Susan's Kate Spade planner giveaway and I never posted about it. Here's a picture of the planner as well as a couple surprises she sent me:

I am absolutely OBSESSED with everything and have been using the planner and pen nonstop. Thank you SO SO much Susan!!

So that's about it for me today...since I'm going to be away for Valentine's day and don't have a boyfriend anyways (grrrrrr) I'm going to have to live vicariously through all of you. What are your plans for Valentine's Day?

Snow Day

I don't know about everyone else but we are getting another GIANT snowstorm, and today our classes were canceled. I don't care how old I am, I still absolutely LOVE snow days and they always make me feel like a little kid again, except instead of staying in with hot chocolate and watching Nickelodeon or The Big Comfy Couch, my friends and I went to the bars instead haha. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and also made me realize how much I'm going to miss college! We're supposed to get snow all night and tomorrow, and one of my classes has been canceled already so hopefully we'll have another one tomorrow. I don't have any pictures of the snow today, but here are some pictures that I took around our campus yesterday:

I hope you all are enjoying the week so far!

The Super Bowl!

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone! Even though I'm not a huge football fan I'm SO excited for the big game just for an excuse to watch alot of tv, drink, and eat snack foods all day. Who are you all rooting for? I think I'm going to cheer on the Saints just because this is their first time and I always love an underdog haha. I also cannot WAIT for the commercials...those and the halftime show are always the highlights for me. A couple friends of ours are hosting a party so we're going to head over there later today and it should be a blast!

In other news...how was everyone's weekend did you all get alot of snow? We got a good amount on Friday and are supposed to get another storm Tuesday which I'm actually kind of excited for! Friday my housemates and I went over to happy hour at one of our favorite bars, and then a friend's party where I drank a little too much haha so on Saturday we were just kinda of lazy and stayed in which was nice and a perfect way to enjoy the snowy day! Oh and I'm sorry about not doing a Weight-Loss Wednesday this week...our internet has been screwy lately but I loss 1lb this week which brings my total up to 3.5lbs so far (but I'm probs going to gain a good chunk of that back today!) Oh and before I end...what did you all think of LOST? So I'm not really sure but are they now doing alternate timelines? I was so confused throughout the whole thing but I absolutely LOVED it and I was also so sad that Juliet died for real this time I always liked her and Sawyer together. Enjoy the Super Bowl!

Pleased to Meet You

Once again I'm not doing a very good job on balancing everything I have going on this semester and have totally abandoned the bloggy world AGAIN. Maybe it's because I'm a second semester Senior but since recruitment ended I have been SOO unmotivated and really need to realize that I'm still in school for 4 more months (ahhhh!) There's a TON that's been going on since I last posted and I have lots of great things to post about but for tonight I thought that I would leave you all with something that I've thought about for a while (warning this is VERY random)

If I could trade lives with anyone for a day I think that it would be either Lady Gaga...

or Snooki.

Hmmmm I wonder what this says about me? Who would you all want to trade lives with?

I can't believe that I just had my first day of second semester yesterday and that I'm a second semester Senior...ew. For those of you who are back I hope you're having a good first week and those on vacation, well, I'm so jealous! Sorry for the short post but I'll be back with much more this weekend!
