Let's Try This Again....

Earlier this summer I jumped on the bandwagon and got a twitter account which I LOVED. However I was a complete idiot, and used my full name, so when I randomly googled myself one day and found my twitter account I kinda freaked and deleted it. So I don't know why I just decided to recreate one again this morning, considering that it's on 9am here and I'm not really awake yet but I did haha. So if you all want (and I hope you do!) click the link on my sidebar and follow along! Oh, and I found someof you but I would love to follow everyone so leave your username so I can follow you too! Hope everyone's having a good week and getting ready for NYE tomorrow!

California Here We Come...

So I absolutely HAD to use a line from The OC theme song to say that I'm off to Palm Springs for New Years! We're going to meet my aunt and uncle as well as some family friends out there and it's going to be a blast. We went last year and had a fantastic time but if any of you have any suggestions let me know!!

Brandy

Hi everyone...I shouldn't even be on my computer right now considering I have to get up to leave in a few hours but I just read this on Classy in Philadelphia's blog and I would love to pass this along and share Brandy's story. Also, if you have a chance go on and check out her blog here....its fantastic!

My name is brandy. And I have a blog.

And a plea.

I use my blog to showcase the crazy I meet everyday, share the stories of the kids I teach and document my love for tequila, dairy products and the abdominal muscles of Ryan Reynolds. Rarely do I talk about personal issues on my blog- as personal as the dude that I adore (who I actually met through my blog- single ladies, let that be a very good reason to blog, the possibility of meeting someone as wonderful as my man), but I need your help. And it involves my dude.

He's a guy who made math comics for my class, so they would love learning about addition. He's the kinda guy who sends my friends gift cards when they are having hard times, who remembers every story I ever told him, who was the first person I celebrated with when I got a teaching job. He's the guy who sent flowers to me at school- dozens of my favourite pink roses just because he loves me. He's a guy who has spent a year patiently explaining (and re-explaining) everything there is to know about football during the important games when silence is preferred. He's made me word puzzles and comics and stayed up late playing Scrabble with me (even though I beat him almost every time). He's listened to me cry about school and family and jobs. He is everything I never knew I needed and everything I always knew I wanted.

The holidays have hit us hard. He's recently been told he may have something called multiple myeloma- an incurable cancer, that gives a person an average of five years of continued life. Though this news has came as a shock, he continues to be exactly who has always been- spending his time worrying about me, rather than worrying about himself. He's the most selfless individual I know- (he stayed late on Christmas Eve to work, so his co-workers could leave early) and a post like this would never be something that he would promote or encourage but when I'm overwhelmed and feeling helpless, the blogging community has always given me tremendous support and comfort, two things I desperately need at this time.

As I write this, the future is uncertain and we aren't sure what's happening. He'll need to see an oncologist soon, to verify what's going on in his body. My hope is that everyone who reads this think positive thoughts and if you are a person who prays, could you add him to your list? (You can refer to him as 'brandy's hot awesome dude'). If you don't pray, please keep him in your heart. This cancer is only a possibility and I believe that the prayers and positive thoughts of people can make sure it never becomes a reality.

I want to give a big thank you to the blog owner who scraped their original blog plans and graciously put this up. My goal is to get as many people as possible to see and read this post. If you are reading this and want to help, copy and paste my plea into your blog or send a link through twitter, so more people can keep him in their thoughts. I would be so very grateful (even more grateful than I am to my friend who first showed me the picture of Ryan Reynolds on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. If you haven't seen it, google it. You. Are. Welcome).

I realize this all sounds dramatic, a Lifetime movie in the making- but this is life. Right now. And I'm throwing away any hint of ego and am humbly asking for you to pray or think kind thoughts. If you are able to pass this on, thank you and if you know anything regarding MM- please email me (my email is on my blog). This isn't a call for sympathy or a plea for pity. It's just one girl hoping you can think positive thoughts for the person she adores. If my current heartache provides you with anything, let it be with the reminder that life is short, love is unbending and no one knows what could happen next. Maybe it is silly, but I really do believe that positive thoughts can make a huge difference. Thank you for reading this and if you haven't already? Please tell someone you love them today.

I did.

Christmas Recap

Happy 2 days after Christmas everyone, I hope you all had a great holiday! Santa was VERY good to me this year and left me lots of goodies including a ton of books and dvds (one of them was the 5th season of Lost which I can't WAIT to watch), a North Face coat, and snow boots! We had a very relaxing Christmas day and then went over to my neighbor's for cocktails which was interesting to say the least. I love my neighbors but they don't always have an edit button on what they say especially when they've been drinking for a couple hours so I definitely heard more about they're...um...love life (they're also in their mid-60s) than I wanted to know!! After the party we came back home, ordered Chinese and watched The Holiday and I'll Be home for Christmas which made a very nice Christmas night!

Everyone has posted pictures of their Christmas decorations, and I guess that I'm a little late to the party considering it's after Christmas haha but my mom goes all out around the holidays so here they are.

(most of our ornaments lean towards the handmade/folksy kind and I love this one which we got in Vermont one year)

(The Christmas Barbar which I think I told you all about in my christmas traditions post)

(all of our stockings....and yes my dog does have his own!)

(my grandmother who is VERY proud of her Norwegian/Viking heritage gave this nutcracker to us)

Today, I'm off to Boston to exchange a gift for my dad, and use a couple gift certificates before coming home to pack for CA tomorrow! I hope you all had a great holiday....what did Santa leave for you?

Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Can you all believe that it's Christmas Eve already?? Wow I am SO excited that Christmas is (almost) here!! Today my dad and I have a big day ahead of us in that it's been our Christmas tradition (since I was about 6 and my dad ACTUALLY forgot to buy my mom presents that year) to go shopping for my mom together on Christmas Eve day at Copley Plaza/ the Pru Center in Boston. I absolutely love this tradition with my dad, and the Copley is always so pretty at Christmas.

My aunt and uncle aren't coming out this year (we're just going to meet them in CA for new years) so it's just going to be our (very small) family for Christmas which I'm actually so excited for! Tonight my family and I are going to dinner in Boston (another tradition) before going to midnight mass which is seriously something that I look forward to all year. It is absolutely beautiful, and my favorite part is when everyone sings Silent Night (one of my favorite Christmas songs) by candle light. Tomorrow we're going to my neighbors for their annual Christmas party, and then have a very relaxing night, and either go to a movie, or just get take out and watch holiday movies. I hope you all have a FANTASTIC holiday, and that Santa is good to you all this year!

Awards!

Over the past couple weeks a bunch of you have been SO amazing to give me a couple of awards, and I have been lame enough not to post them. I still can't believe that people read this thing (and I just saw that I have 150 followers...WOW) and actually give me awards, so thank you all and here they are!

The very fabulous Lauren at Dreams Take Flight gave me the "your blog is fabulous award!"

The rules for this one are to just share five things you are obsessed with, and then pass the award on to five of the most fabulous blogs you read!

  1. The whole Holiday Season. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas are my absolute favorite times of the year. I love the movies, tv specials, food, music, decorations, and overall EVERYTHING about the holidays.
  2. Lady Gaga. I don't know about everyone else, but even though she is totally weird and out there, I absolutely LOVE her and am kinda obsessed with the Bad Romance video. I would love to be one of those dancers and wear those CRAZY outfits!
  3. Bravo. Lately, I've become kinda addicted to all of the bravo shows, and I've also been loving the fact that they show old episodes of The West Wing in the mornings when I have to get ready for school. Next to the Travel Channel, and Food Network, it's become one of my go to channels when nothing else is on.
  4. Chipotle. I used to be a Qdoba fan until our town just got a chipotle, and now I am TOTALLY obsessed. The chicken tacos, and their chips with guacamole are my favs.

Marian from Escaping the Single Life

Let It Snow!

I hope that everyone on the East Coast is enjoying this very snowy weekend! It's snowing like crazy right now and I for one am LOVING it. I think my mom and I are going to bake cookies and watch holiday movies today, and then later as long as the roads are OK were going to head out to a restaurant near Sturbridge which is so pretty and very "holiday-y." I can't wait and I think it's going to be GORGEOUS with the snow! I am so happy to finally be done with finals and have a couple weeks off to just relax. I have a bunch of fun things planned for this break and am very excited to head out to Palm Springs CA with my family for New Years!

So I feel like I haven't written an actual post and "talked" with all of you in forever! So many fun things have happened so in the interest of not having a post that's 8 years long here's a quick recap:

  • We had our semi-formal the first weekend in December and it was SO much fun! It was held at this really cool little bar, and the atmosphere was great. The bar owners were so generous and had an open bar for us too which made it that much better haha. I know a couple of you were wondering what dress I chose but stupid me forgot to bring my camera cord home so here is the only (good) picture I could find on facebook!

  • I had my third and final job interview and it went so well! They were so welcoming and friendly and the two people I talked to were great. After the interview they told me that I would recieve an email letting me know if I was still being considered for the position, and last week I got that email! So now all I have to do is wait which sucks, and keep applying for other jobs, but I REALLLY want this one so hopefully it will come through!
  • The Saturday before finals, my friends and I took a study break and went to Macaroni Grill which was so delish, and afterwards went to Target to look around. Well, I had seen many of my sorority sister's with these Frye boots, and had been trying to find the Target version for FOREVER, and I finally found them! It was a nice to buy myself a little treat before finals!

Target's Version

Frye Boots

  • Yesterday I went out to breakfast with my bff C, and then went Christmas shopping in Boston. It wasn't as crowded as I thought which was really nice, and I'm so happy that I'm almost done with everything. I can't believe that Christmas is less than a week away!
So that has been my life in a nutshell these past couple weeks. I hope that you are all having a great holiday season so far, and if you're around here, enjoying the snow!

A Snowy Surprise

I just woke up to get ready for class and look what was waiting outside...

It's SNOW! I'm such a little kid, but I always get so excited for the first snow, and this is the perfect thing to brighten up a Monday. Funny enough, even though we've actually gotten a fair amount of snow here over the last couple of years (especially last year) this isn't really an area that deals with snow well, so M just told me that alot of schools are closed this morning because of 1/2 inch. Lucky kids I wish I still had snow days!! Off to get ready for class and have a great Monday everyone!!

The BEST GIVEAWAY EVER and Dresses

Hope you all are having a lovely Saturday morning! So first I wanted to mention the most AMAZING giveaway that Fantabulously Frugal is hosting. She is the most generous person ever and is offering 3 different packages with various goodies in them such as Gucci sunglasses, gift certificates and other amazing things! So head on over there enter, and if you do PLEASE mention that I sent you!!

So the other news is that I'm going to my sorority semi-formal tonight, and of course can't figure out what to wear. So maybe you all can weigh in! Here are the options: (oh and sorry for the crappy photo quality...I took them on my phone haha)

Option 1: I haven't worn this since freshman year but it's basic and cute and has a fun back (see below)

The back of Option 1

Option 2: I don't know if you can tell from the picture but the dress is a really deep, pretty forest green. I love this dress and wore it to a semi sophomore year, but the only problem is that it's a little tight and can make it hard to breathe haha.

Option 3: This dress I wore for recruitment last year and it's REALLY pretty and comfy however I do need to add "chicken cutlets" and a good dose of fashion tape to make it work on top haha.

Option 4: Oops, sorry I didn't rotate the picture, but this dress I bought yesterday and is navy with ruffles on top.

So....which one do you like?

Tunes Thursday

Sorry that Tunes Tuesday got moved to Thursday this week...I left for my interview Tuesday night and was completely busy preparing for it. When I got back last night I went for mexican and margs, and then was completely lazy for the rest of the night! As for my interview I think it went really well! I spoke with two people and the first person I spoke with went to the same school as me, and both were so nice and completely welcoming. They seemed pretty impressed with my intership experience and I think that I would be amazing for the position so hopefully I'll here something back from them soon! In the meantime all positive thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Ok so on to this weeks Tunes Tuesday...for the rest of the month it's going to be all christmas...YAY! Alot of these are non-traditional but they're what I listen to starting in Novemeber so enjoy!

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings-Barenaked Ladies

Just Like Christmas-Low

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear-Sixpence None the Richer

Santa Can you Hear Me-Britney Spears

Do you Hear What I Hear-Whitney Houston

All I Want for Christmas-Mariah Carey

Look for more next week!

Back To Reality

After a crowded plane ride I'm back at school, and while I'm definitely happy to be back I'm TOTALLY missing home right now! My Thanksgiving was great, lots of good food and even better company (all except for our one family friend who is completely CRAZY but definitely makes holidays entertaining haha) and this past weekend was so much fun as well. On Friday afternoon, my mom and I saw The Blind Side which I thought was absolutely amazing and completely inspirational...I also loved the fact that both Leanne and her daughter were/are KDs! Saturday, my family went up to Salem to walk around and go to this teeny tiny museum that always has unique exhibits and when we got home we watched The Family Stone and The Holiday, two of my favorite Christmas Movies. Today, before leaving we all went to the Brighams (anyone from MA knows that it's the best ice cream EVER) in my town for one last visit because it's CLOSING tomorrow :( It's kinda sad how, well, sad I am about it but I have a ton of great memories from there, and will definitely miss my catch up dates there with my BFF from home, C. Right now I'm sitting in bed, kinda falling asleep, and trying to build up the motivation to write a paper thats due tomorrow at 10am...nothing like a fun way to come back to school! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Show Us Your Life-Christmas Traditions

I always LOVE the weekly Show Us Your Life over at Kelly's Korner and thought that I would participate myself this week! My family has a TON of traditions (I'm warning you now...some are kinda weird haha) so here are a few of them:
  • When I was little I used to be OBSESSED with Babar the Elephant so my mom bought a cardboard cutout of him for my Babar birthday party. Now I have no idea how this started but my mom would always put out the cutout on Christmas Eve and when "Santa" would come "he" would put a bell on Babar's trunk. Kinda weird but we still have kept it up!
  • We always open a Christmas present each on Christmas Eve.
  • When decorating the tree my mom always hides a pickle ornament and whoever finds it gets to open their presents first.
  • Before Christmas my mom and I always make Holiday Cookies together, and for Christmas my mom always buys her and matching PJs for us to wear on Christmas morning.
So there are just a few of my family's Christmas traditions...what are your family's traditions?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! For me the family fun (both good and bad haha) has already started...my mom has already made some,um, interesting comments towards me, and my aunt and uncle have only been here for less than an hour and are kinda driving me insane already. Oh well, I am SO happy that I'm home and spending Thanksgiving with my amazing family (as crazy as they may be) and I can't wait to watch the parade, dog show, top chef on bravo (I love their Thanksgiving marathons!) and eat all of the yummy food! Have a great holiday everyone!!

Highs and Lows

I don't know about all of you but Thanksgiving Break, seriously could not come soon enough. Between school, riding, activities, and still trying to have a social life (a definite FAIL) last week was completely crazy. Here are some of the highlights of the past week-ish (and I'll start with the lows first because it's best to get those out of the way!)

Lows
  • The Horseshow at _____ (they know who they are haha)- The horseshow that our team went to the weekend of the 13th was seriously one of the WORST shows ever. Personally I rode pretty well and was overall very happy with both my ride and my horse (although even though I love the color pink if I get another 5th place I will flip out) but the judge was seriously HORRIBLE. In one class all 3 of our riders didn't place (and two of them definitely should have) and the school that was hosting the show, and prides themselves on having an amazing equestrian program, didn't have the courtesy to start even remotely on time. We have to go back there in February and I'm really not looking forward to it.
  • School- I think the Communication department at my school made a pack to kill all of their students right before Thanksgiving. I have not had that much work in my life and am really not looking forward to finals...although I think they actually might be easier to handle than last week was!
  • Mental Breakdowns- Last Wednesday was a really LONGGG day that ended with me crying on the phone to my dad while walking to the library, going to two meetings with makeup all over my face, then coming home, drinking a glass of wine (by myself. in my room. in the dark), getting a McFlurry, drinking more wine, falling asleep and then waking up at 3am to do work that was supposed to be emailed at 12 am. Solid.
Highs
  • BRUUUUCE- The Bruce Springsteen concert was seriously the most AMAZING concert I have ever seen in my entire life. He played the entire Born to Run Album (with Prove It All Night and Jungleland being AMAZING) and then played (among a ton of other fantastic songs) Because the Night and Born in the USA...I seriously DIED. What made the night even better was that S, M, and I went to this bar across the street, both before and after the concert, that played great music and was overall a TON of fun!
  • New Moon- My friends and I went to the midnight showing on Thursday and it was amazing...SO much better than Twilight! It's funny though, although I liked it at the time, the more I think back on it the more I realize I absolutely LOVED it, and I really want to go and see it again...although that's not going to happen right now because none of my friends at home having gotten into the series. They have no idea what they're missing haha!
  • A Third Interview- After having a second interview the week before, and not hearing back all week about whether or not I got a third, and final interview (which partly contributed to my breakdown on Wednesday), on Friday I found out I got a third interview with this company! The interview is a week from Wednesday, and although I'm REALLY nervous, I can't wait. The job is similar to what I did this summer (digital marketing) and I think that I would be really great in this position. Keep your fingers crossed!
So that was my week in a nutshell, and now I'm SO happy that I'm home! Can't believe that Thanksgiving is only a couple days away...can't WAIT!

My professors have decided that the best way to get us ready for the Thanksgiving break is to literally KILL US this week with work...I have 5 papers, 2 tests, and 1 group project due before I leave on Friday and I literally have NO idea how I'm going to make it through. I do have a midnight showing of New Moon to look forward to on Thursday and I'm SOOO excited for that! There's going to be no Tunes Tuesday this week (I know you're all SO sad haha) and I don't think I'm going to post again until I get home but I hope you all have a great week, and enjoy New Moon if you're seeing it this weekend. Oh and Bruce was absolutely AMAZING...seriously the BEST concert I have ever seen...MUCH longer recap on that plus pictures later!

The CMAs: Why Have I Not Watched This Before?

I love country music as much as the next person, and it definitely has a heavy rotation on both my ipod, and my radio, but I've never really watched any country award shows or anything, until last night when M and I randomly landed on the CMAs when we were watching tv. WOW I think that was one of the most fun award shows I've watched in awhile! I loved how it almost seemed like more of a concert with all of the performances, and I also liked how everyone seemed genuinely happy (or at least they can fake it really well) to be there and be performing. I absolutely LOVED Zac Brown Band's cover of The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Brad Paisley's Welcome to the Future (definitely one of my favorite songs right now), Reba, Carrie Underwood and Brooks and Dunn. But I have to admit that as much as I love her, Taylor Swift is starting to (slowly) get on my nerves...I love Fifteen, but her performance of it last night kinda reminded me of seeing NSync at the Burlington Mall when they were still doing mall tours. Overall though I thought it was great and a lot of fun! Did any of you watch it last night?

Tunes Tuesday: I Feel Old Edition

I was going to do a completely different theme for this week's Tunes Tuesday, until I took a quick break in our sorority suite (we don't have sorority houses here) and was watching Dancing with the Stars with two girls in the Sophomore pledge class. We were talking about the different people dancing but when Aaron Carter came on they wondered why he was on the show because they didn't think he was known for anything except for being Nick Carter's brother. I quickly reminded them of Aaron's Party (one of my FAV songs haha) but they didn't really know it, and only kinda knew he had his own (short-lived) singing career...WOW did I feel old! So in honor of this story I decided this week to share some of my favorite songs of the 90s...this is only a brief list though...look for more of my fav 90s songs in the future!

Ace of Base-The Sign

Aqua-Barbie Girl
(Really any Aqua song...LOVE them!)

Sorry...couldn't embed this one!

Genie in a Bottle-Christina Aguilera

If You Want it to Be Good Girl-Backstreet Boys

Never Had a Dream Come True-S Club 7

Aaron's Party-Aaron Carter (sorry I could find the actual music video to embed!)

A Recap in Pictures

I was going over my posts today, and besides from my Tunes Tuesday posts, (which I don't know about all of you but I've been having a great time digging through my Itunes to come up with songs and a theme) and I noticed that I have been a REALLY bad blogger lately. All of the school work that goes along with senior year has been catching up with me, and the fact that I have be (semi) actively job hunting. Which reminds me...remember the job interview that I had a couple weeks ago? Well it went really well because I have a second interview on Tuesday! I have no idea if this is going to go anywhere but I really hope it does because 1.) I need a job, 2.) the company sounds really cool and it's in a field (digital marketing) that I'm interested in and 3.) I REALLY need a job!

Besides from that nothing that exciting has happend so I decided that I would recap my last couple weeks in pictures...because nothing is more fun than that right? These are from the last two weeks and include my bday, halloween, and my other housemate S's bday. Enjoy!

(The bday cake my housemates got for me)

(If you can't tell I was Wonder Woman!)

(My glittle A, me, one of my littles N, and my other glittle J)

(me and my other little E)

(Celebrating S's bday)

(Her first [legal] drink!)

I also have seen that other bloggers are saying something that they are thankful for each day of November, and while I can't promise to say something each day I'm going to do the best I can! Today I'm thankful for the "Leaves" scented candle that I got from Bath and Body Works. I can't really describe the smell but it's delish and is making my room smell like Fall!

Scared Silly

Oh man. I am DEFINITELY not getting to sleep for a while! After going out to dinner, and watching the first 5 innings of the 6th and sadly the last game of the World Series (BOOOO) S (my other housemate S) and I decided to see Paranormal Activity because we heard a ton of things about it and wanted to check it out for ourselves.

OMG. Wow what a fun but SCARY SCARY movie. I feel so bad for the poor guy in front of me because between my long legs, and the fact that he was a little on the short side I think I kicked him in the head about 5 times haha. The last 15-20 minutes were seriously one of the most terrifying things that I'd ever seen, but even though it was so scary it also was alot of fun, so for those who haven't seen it yet definitely go check it out. Sorry for the ramble and I can already tell it's going to be a long night...the wall between M and my room just creaked and I almost just screamed!

Tunes Tuesday: Halloween Edition

Halloween may be over but that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy a couple more "scary" songs to last us through the year! Here are my favorite songs to listen around Halloween or when I want to be creeped out! (PS~ A longer recap of my week/weekend will be coming later today!)

Nightmare on My Street-Will Smith
(Used to LOVE this when I was younger, and also used to love all Will Smith songs....I can still sing portions of Wild Wild West and Getting Jiggy Wit It by heart haha)

Thriller-Michael Jackson
(This song used to scare the CRAP out of me when I was little...I literally couldn't listen to it in the car!)

Ghostbusters

Haloween-Aqua
(LOVE Aqua!)

Monster Mash-Bobby Pickett and the Cryptkeepers

Dead Man's Party-Oingo Boingo

Hope you all had a fantastic Halloween!!

Tunes Tuesday

Thank you all SO much for the bday wishes yesterday...I had an absolutely AMAZING day and it was gorgeous out which made it even better! I had classes all day and then about 12 of us went to one of my favorite places for drinks and dinner...SO yummy and I even got a free piece of carrot cake for dessert (although I also had brownies and cake too...whoops!) I have my job interview today, so I didn't go out, but instead went back for wine, gossip girl, and the daily show...a great end to a fantastic day!

I was trying to think of a weekly post that I could do, and since I love music, and you all seemed to like my Fall Playlist post, I decided to make every Tuesday "Tunes Tuesday" and share some of my favorite songs with you! I'm going to try to make a theme for every week, and for this first one I decided to copy PSP's Southern Songs post and share songs that remind me of being home:

Dirty Water-The Standells
This is an obvious one, and it still makes me so proud whenever I hear it.

Sweet Caroline-Neil Diamond
This song always takes me back to Fenway, and I particularly like the "Red Sox Version" that one of the radio stations (WROR) plays during the summer, that has clips of the red sox winning in it.

Shipping Out To Boston- The Drop Kick Murphys
LOVE this song, and always listen to it when I fly over the harbor and into the airport. Also I love really anything by the Drop Kick Murphys

Sweet Baby James-James Taylor

Where You Go-Mighty Mighty Bostones
Funny story: In my freshman year of high school, one of my best friends G and I were supposed to see the Mighty Mighty Bostones at this outdoor concert held by an alternative radio station. The only song we knew that they played was this one, which is from Clueless, so we memorized all the words so we could look cool...the only problem was that we went the wrong night so we ended up seeing the Drop Kick Murphys instead, which drew an INTERESTING crowd. So even though we never got to see them, I still LOVE this song!

Peace of Mind-Boston
My favorite song of Boston.

So there you go....what songs remind you of your home, and if you ever have a theme request for "Tunes Tuesday," just let me know!

Sunday Funday

Ha I know that's a totally lame title post but after this weekend my brain really isn't functioning at full speed yet haha. Sorry for the brief blogging hiatus but I have a (kinda) sketchy story to explain it. When I was driving home from the airport on Monday (after a LONGGG day of travel...ugh I really hate flying!) I was talking to S, and among other things she mentioned that the internet had gone out completely Sunday night, but had finally come back which was good. Well, cut to tuesday night, and the internet went out again, and by Thursday it still hadn't come back on. I called Time Warner, and when the guys came over that night they found that someone had put a splitter on our cable box, and they were totally surprised that it didn't affect our cable as well. We were all kinda sketched out because we really had no idea who would have done this, but we think it might have been our sketchy ex-housemate who lived in our house for the summer...definitely glad that she's gone and that our internet is up and running again!

The other bit of exciting news that happened this week was that....I got my first job interview!! It's for a digital marketing company, which is similar to the one I worked for this summer, and I am so excited but SO nervous. I have a phone interview with them on Tuesday afternoon, and even though I feel kinda prepared, and am calling my dad to get more tips, any and all advice from you is needed and MUCH appreciated!

Besides from being my b-day weekend, this weekend was also my school's homecoming weekend which was an absolute blast! Football really isn't that big at my school (our team is pretty bad haha) so instead of the game my friends and I just hung out all day, and watched other games on tv. M and I also discovered our new favorite drink:

O man where has this been all my life! M and I mixed it with lemondae, and it was absolutely fantastic...definitely going to become a regular addition in our house! Last night we went to a sorority party and saw a bunch of alum which was a ton of fun, but then ended up watching the patriot on tv before going to bed early haha. I haven't been grocery shopping in SO long, so I decided to make a trek to Whole Foods which is about an hour away, but I am SO excited...probably too excited. Tonight I have chapter (for my sorority) and then a TON of homework to do, and then tomorrow is my birthday!! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Snow?!

Update: Well it is officially snowing, so much that my flight was delayed until 830pm but I would end up missing my connecting flight so I'm stuck here until tomorrow :(

I've had an absolutely amazing time back at home for the weekend, but REALLY, since when has it suddenly turn into Winter? Friday when I randomly woke up early (I think I thought I still had to get up for class haha) and looked outside there were snow flurries flying all around. Now I'm all for Winter, and can't wait for the first snow but I think mid-October is definitely a little early!

Friday I literally sat on the couch all day and watched shows that I dvred on Thursday night. I've never actually realized this before, at school my friends and I are so busy that we never usually watch our Thursday night shows on Thursday night, but WOW I really watch alot of tv on that night...I should probably cut back haha. I haven't really done a "new shows post" but I think my favorite shows of the Fall have become: Modern Family (that's on Wednesday nights but oh well,) Flash Forward (Even though it's not as good, I definitely think that this will replace my LOST obsession when it ends, and I can't believe that CHARLIE (well I guess his name is Simon now haha) showed up in the end!,) Vampire Diaries (obviously not as good as True Blood but o man is it getting intense,) and Community (I LOVE Joel McHale). Combined with my old favorites (SO happy that 30 Rock came back this week, and Greys was AMAZING!) Thursday night tv has become a very busy night!

Friday night my family and I went out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in my town, and I really wanted to wear this dress that I got a while ago from F21, so even though it was a little bit fancier for the place I decided to wear it anyways!

I ended up dressing it down a bit with this jacket that I got from Nordstroms alittle bit ago and ended up wearing flats.

Saturday my Mom treated me to a manicure which I REALLY needed, and then I did alittle bit of shopping which is always fun. I went to this Boston-area chain called 344, which used to be called Jasmine Sola, and ever since it changed the store has kinda gone down abit but what I LOVE is everything seriously seems to be $38 dollars so its great for getting fun, going out clothes. I also went to the Gap and got a couple of things on Sale which is always nice. After that, I went to my High School's homecomming which was SO much fun, and I got to see alot of my old teachers that I love. Last night my family went to see Couple's Retreat, which was REALLY funny in the first half, and then kinda died out a bit but was still really entertaining. The movie ended kinda early so I did some reading for school, and watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which I had never seen before and was SO funny!

I'm really lucky that my flight doesn't leave until 6:30 today (but it doesn't get in until 11:30 and then I still have an hour drive so that kinda sucks) and it's really rainy and gross here so I think I'm just going to hang out and do homework. I'm kinda bummed to leave already but can't wait for Thanksgiving which is JUST around the corner! What did you all do this weekend?
xoxo

PS~ I'm so sad that I didn't/not going to make it to see the Head of the Charles but my school has four boats in it, and I know that Miss Queen Bee is it so GOOD LUCK to all of them!

My Crazy Busy Weekend

I'm sure I left you all hanging on Monday wondering why I was up for 30 hours (well once I actually went to bed it was 34 haha) right? (haha) Ok well here is the story of my VERY long weekend. I think I've talked about this before but just in case, let me reiterate something: I HATE MY BLACK WORLD STUDIES CLASS! I took this class for two reasons: one, it was for a general requirement and was the only one I could get into in the last minute, and two, it actually sounded interesting.

What I didn't know going into it was that my professor is a self described "a-hole" and he admitted today (proudly) that he's been working on that title for 20 years. So last week when he announced that we would have a 20 page paper due as our midterm I immediately thought no problem. However he then threw in a twist: the assignment for the paper would be emailed out on Friday afternoon, and would be due on Monday by 5. Like are you kidding me...4 DAYS for a 20 page paper? Normally this would be annoying but whatever I would just be a hermit for the weekend...the major problem with this weekend was that my school was hosting our home horseshow so I litterally had NO time to work on it.

So the horseshow went well, and our horses were fabulous, despite some very, um, INTERESTING riding done by the other teams haha, but I literally had no time to work on the paper Saturday night because by the time I got home I was so tired from showing, working, and being up since 6am and I also had to get up on Sunday morning at 630am. Sunday comes, and the horses are great again, however by the time that everything is done, I don't end up starting my paper (and by starting I literally mean starting the research) until 5pm.

Long story short I work on my paper throughout the night, go to my 10am class (why I don't really know...I was so out of it I almost fell out of my chair), come back, finish the paper at 4pm, and fall asleep on the couch at 430pm. So stressful but at least this story has a happy ending: My professor had graded the papers already (I know I have no idea how he got them all done either) and I got an 85! Not my finest grade on a paper but I'm pretty happy with it (especially for such a last minute attempt.) It was a very relieving way to end the day and a great way to go into my fall break which starts tomorrow...which means that the next time I blog I'll be back in Boston!!

What I Miss Most About Summer

I've been meaning to do this post for awhile now (September 1st to be exact) but I totally forgot about it haha. So because it's a cold, gross, rainy day (that I do kinda love) and nothing really exciting happened today, I thought I would post this now! Even though Fall is hands down my FAVORITE season, there are a TON of things that I miss about summer (hanging out with my family, friends from home, and Sam Adams Summer brew are among them) but the number 1 thing that I totally and completely miss is reading.

I absolutely LOVE to read (kinda seems hard to believe because I really haven't done any reading for school haha) and I love having all of the free time in the summer to read as many books as possible. This summer, I was pretty proud of myself in that I read 11 books, and started a twelfth, but haven't finished it. I have to admit that most of the books I read were somewhat trashy but here's what I read this summer:

Sookie Stackhouse Books (5-9) (Even though they can be kinda cheesy I do recommend them esp for beach/vacation reading. They all go by very quickly and are fun reads...they're also a great companion to True Blood. Ha and when I was finding the page on Amazon I found out she's writing a 10th book which I preordered!)

Mexican High
(This was a book that I randomly picked up that turned out to be pretty good. It's a semi-autobiographical story of a girl that spends a year in Mexico City and all of the crazy shennigans that happen there. VERY fast read...I think I read it in a day and a half.)

The Rope Walk (Maybe it's just me, the book received 4.5 stars on Amazon but I did NOT like this book at all! The author does do a great job when it comes to descriptions of both the characters and the landscapes, but it is INCREDIBLY slow moving, and I really didn't think that there was much of a payoff at the end. If anyone has read this book I totally want to know what you think!)

My Sister's Keeper (I wanted to read the book this summer after hearing about the movie, and all I can say about this was O.M.G. Seriously one of the best books I've ever read and also probably the saddest. I figure that most of you know what this is about so I won't go into details but for those who don't it looks at a very difficult decision a young girl has to make and what makes this book amazing is that the author looks at the perspectives from all members of the family. I read this in a day and a half while I was on vacation in Michigan, and I'm never one to cry when I read books but I was absolutely BAWLING....definitely recommended!)

Are You There Vodka It's Me Chelsea (I LOVE Chelsea Lately, so I loved this book and is another quick, fun read. Word of warning though: If you tend to laugh out loud it might not be the best to read in public places...I finished this on a plane and was cracking up so the people around me probably thought I was a creep haha.)

13 Little Blue Envelopes
(I received this book in my Summer Swap package and it was really cute! It's about a girl who receives a series of letters from her eccentric aunt, and needs to follow them, as they take her through Europe. So cute and really made me want to pack up my bags and travel!)

Secret Society Girl
(I picked this up randomly a while ago and just read it at the end of this summer. Ehhhh it's ok...it's about a girl who goes to Eli University (aka Yale) and gets "tapped" to be in this secret society (hence the title haha) called Rose and Grave (aka Skull and Bones.) It's pretty good, and it definitely held my attention while driving back to school!)

Under the Rose
(This is the second book in the Secret Society Girl Series (I think there's three) and even though I didn't love the first one I thought I would give this one a shot. Not much better, but I only have 80 pages left so I'm going to stick with it and at least it holds my attention while I'm working out on the Eliptical!)

So that's what I read this summer/am reading right now. After Under the Rose, I'm going to start Back to Wando Passo which I got in a book giveaway this summer and it looks GREAT! What are you all reading right now?
